CES Preschool recently enjoyed a trip to the local Pizza Hut in Centralia. This field trip was an ending activity for our recent unit, Grocery Store/Shopping. Each child was able to make his/her own pan pizza with their favorite toppings. We watched the pizzas go into the oven and we really enjoyed tasting our pizzas back at school. Field trips are such a great way to enhance vocabulary and build our “schema”. Schema is a reading skill necessary for comprehending what we read and making connections to our lives, other books, and the world. When a child reads a book or is read a book about pizzas now, our preschool students will be able to “connect” their previous experiences with the book and it makes it much easier for them to remember the story. Make sure to ask your child about our visit! Thank you again Pizza Hut!
