Dr. Matt Smith, principal of Centralia High School, selected senior Roston Palmer to be the CHS September Student of the Month. His parents are Raymond and Melissa Palmer, and his sister Rylee Palmer is a freshman at CHS. Palmer is involved in football, track and FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America).

Dr. Matt Smith presented Roston Palmer with the Student of the Month award.

Palmer thought it was an honor to be named Student of the Month. Mr. John Finlay, a physical education teacher at CHS, nominated Palmer for the honor.

“Roston is friendly and accommodating to all classmates in PE. He is a great teammate in games and keeps things fun in class. He treats all of his classmates kindly and with respect. He’s competitive, yet keeps things in perspective. Roston is a joy to have in class and is a big-time asset in class,” said Finlay.

Palmer’s favorite class at CHS is Multimedia because he gets “to use very expensive equipment to film movies and videos.”

One piece of advice that Palmer has for underclassmen and future high school students is to do their work and get along with everyone.

His future plans include attending Columbia College Chicago, a private college specializing in arts and media disciplines, which is located in Chicago, Illinois. He wants to get a double major in film and business. In his free time, Palmer likes to skateboard and spend time with his friends.
