Dr. Matt Smith, principal of Centralia High School, presented the CHS Arrangement of the Month for November to school nurse Miranda Humphrey.
Humphrey, who has been a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) since 2001, is in her fifth year with the Centralia School District. She is currently the school nurse at both Centralia Intermediate School and Centralia High School. Prior to joining the Centralia School District, she spent 13 years working for the Westran School District in Huntsville, Missouri.
Humphrey’s job as a nurse can be challenging because there are many different tasks that come with supporting two buildings within the district. “I love the people I work for and work with, and I am so happy to be here to assist the students and staff if they ever need a nurse,” said Humphrey.
Dr. Smith selected Humphrey for the honor. He is grateful for all that she does at CHS.
“She spends a ton of time assisting students and looking out for their well-being, and always does so with a tremendous amount of compassion and comforting reassurance,” said Dr. Smith.
When there is a sudden emergency, Dr. Smith said Humphrey is always ready to jump in.
“Mrs. Humphrey stands out when there is any type of health/wellness scare that causes students or staff to feel some panic or pressure. She is always able to maintain her calm and composure and help those around her maintain theirs. We are very thankful to have her here caring for all our students and teachers at CHS!” said Dr. Smith.
Dr. Smith surprised Humphrey with the honor. She said she was not expecting to receive the Arrangement of the Month.
Humphrey has been married to CHS assistant principal/athletic director and head boys’ basketball coach Scott Humphrey for almost five years. She has four daughters, two sons and a son-in-law. In her rare free time, she loves to spend time with her family and occasionally travels.
