Ella Holiman, CHS senior, signed to the Minnesota Moorhead softball team on November 11, 2020. Holiman is the daughter of Kurt and Denise Holiman.

Before deciding on Minnesota State University, Holiman considered four other colleges. She said, “I went with Moorhead because I love the atmosphere of the campus and the softball team. I love the coaches and the team!”

As a first-year college athlete, Holiman wants to be a starter and hit .300. She said, “I want to make an impact on the team as soon as I step on the field.”

Holiman acquired several awards in her high school softball career:

Senior – 1st Team All-Conference Infield, Unanimous 1st Team Utility (only one player gets the award for first team); 1st Team All-Region Player at Large; Clarence Cannon Conference Player of the Year; and 2nd Team All-State Utility

Junior – All-Conference Honorable Mention Infield; 1st Team All-District Infield; 2nd Team All-Region; CHS Team MVP

Sophomore – All-Conference Honorable Mention Infield; 2nd Team All-District; Team Rookie of the Year

When asked about her favorite memory from softball, Holiman said, “Definitely our district championship this year. It was the perfect display of our team’s chemistry and the success that we were capable of. And the trophy, too, of course!”

Holiman mentioned that the people who have helped her the most throughout her career are her mom and her coaches. She said her mom was always there to pick her up and that Eric Jones, her coach of several years, and her high school coaches helped her grow as a player and leader.

In high school, Holiman is also involved in NHS, Key Club, FFA and Orchestra. She attends Tulip Christian Church.

Holiman is going to college to study geoscience, with an emphasis on geology. She also plans to earn a GIS certification.
