Emma Magnusson, Centralia High School senior, is a new student to the R-VI district. Magnusson has stepped up to the challenge of being in a new school and has excelled at her courses at CHS. Because of her hard work and dedication, Dr. Matt Smith named her the December Student of the Month.

Magnusson, the daughter of David and Brenda Magnusson, moved to Centralia from Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. She is involved in many activities at CHS, such as Drama Club, Art Club and National Honor Society. Outside of school, she likes to swim, run and bike.

Magnusson enjoys being involved in school and the social aspect of seeing her friends every day. She is a strong student who enjoys learning.

“My favorite classes are art, drama and speech. These classes allow me to be creative and express myself,” Magnusson said.

Dr. Andrew Darr, CHS Language Arts teacher, nominated Magnusson for this honor. He said she is an excellent student in his class.

“She is a new transfer (during her senior year no less) who has just jumped right into everything. She is organized, a natural leader, and just an all-around excellent member of the Centralia family,” Darr said.

After graduation, Magnusson plans to attend Missouri State University. She hopes to get her bachelor’s degree in business. In the future, she aims to open her own family furniture shop called “Creative Minds.”
