Chris Heimann, Centralia High School senior, signed with Iowa Wesleyan University on a basketball scholarship. The signing happened on Thursday, January 28, 2021, in the CHS gym. Several members of Heimann’s family, along with numerous CHS students, came to support this big step towards her future.

Heimann’s parents, Bob and Nancy Heimann, have been very supportive of her decision. Her two sisters, Beth Heimann and Lucy McGowan, have also encouraged her to follow her dream and play college basketball.

“My family has been very supportive and helpful. I went on a visit with my parents and they loved the people, campus, and town,” Heimann said.

Heimann plans to study art in college. She will play basketball for the Tigers and plans to join Christian and art groups. She chose to go to Iowa Wesleyan University because she loves the basketball coach. She is also looking forward to getting a head start on college.

In high school, Heimann was involved in cross country, basketball, track, Key Club, SKRUBS, FFA, Beta Chi Pi, NHS and FCA. She had a very fulfilling high school career but is ready to move on to the next step of her life.

“I will miss my friends and the memories we made here. Whether that be wandering the halls with Erika Benson or cramming for Calculus tests with Abbie Ross, Centralia High School has been very memorable,” Heimann said.

After college, Heimann plans to become an art therapist or art teacher.
