CHS Choir, Orchestra Perform in Park

On Tuesday, May 11, 2021, the CHS choir and orchestra programs held their annual spring concert at the City Park. Mrs. Leah Rolfson’s classes performed a variety of different pieces to entertain the crowd.

Rolfson mentioned that this year has been a challenge for her music students. “The masks have made it harder for diction, pronunciation and dynamics. It has limited our ability to sing,” she said.

Because of the challenges the year brought to the music program, Rolfson was ecstatic about the opportunity for her students to be able to showcase the hard work they had been doing throughout the semester. She was also happy about the unique venue of the spring event.

“The beauty of this atmosphere is what made this concert so special. We have not been able to perform live all year long, and it was so nice to be able to enjoy performing in front of an audience again,” stated Rolfson.

She went on to say that the music was different this year because they wanted to do something extraordinary as compared to other concerts “since this was not just like every other year.”

The following students chose to perform one of their contest pieces for the evening’s performance:

Ryan Miller, Terra Veazy, Mara Davis, Emory Biggs, Sam Lynn, Abbie Ross and Xaden Lockett.
