Dr. Matt Smith, Centralia High School principal, selected Mr. Ben Sontheimer, CHS physical education teacher and coach, as the recipient of the April Arrangement of the Month at CHS.

Smith said Sontheimer has done a great job with his many roles in the district.

“Coach Sontheimer has been an incredible asset to CHS in many ways. He has taken over this year as head track coach and our teams have had incredible seasons, sweeping the CCC and district titles. He is also a great teacher who works hard every day to do what is right for all our students,” said Dr. Smith.

In addition to coaching track, Sontheimer is an assistant coach for both the football team and the girls’ basketball team.

“His experience and expertise have been invaluable additions to all our athletic programs,” said Dr. Smith.

Sontheimer said he is proud of how the entire school district worked together during the unprecedented challenges that this school year brought, pointing out that the school did not have to close down for any Covid-related situations.

Sontheimer is very pleased with his first season as Centralia’s head track coach. His teams have been working hard throughout the season. “They are very dedicated and committed to being the best track athletes they can. Their hard work and dedication are paying off as both the boys’ and girls’ track teams won the conference and district championships this season,” he said. CHS track athletes also won numerous accolades at the state track meet on May 29.

Sontheimer is married to Lindsey Sontheimer, who is a special education teacher at CHS. They have five children: Jordan, Brandon, Harper, Tilmon and Declan.
