Elizabeth Gilbert is a new third grade teacher for Centralia Intermediate School. She previously taught second grade in Mexico, MO for three years. Gilbert graduated from Columbia College in 2017 with a Bachelor’s degree in General Studies. In 2018, she received her certification in Elementary Education. She is currently enrolled in the Masters of Arts in Reading with an Emphasis in Elementary Education program, through Grand Canyon University.

Gilbert said she applied for the third grade teaching position because, “I graduated from Centralia in 2015, and really wanted to be able to teach at my Alma Mater.”

When asked about what her favorite part of teaching in Centralia is, she replied, “I really enjoy being able to see my students’ success. The best part of being a teacher is building relationships and seeing the light bulbs go off in their heads.”

Some of Gilbert’s favorite hobbies are playing outside with her dog and kittens as well as spending time with family and friends around a bonfire. Gilbert is glad to be teaching back in her hometown.
