Mrs. Jan Jones is a new addition to the fourth grade team at Centralia Intermediate School. For the 2020-2021 school year, she was a virtual teacher in sixth grade at Chester Boren Middle School. She spent the previous 18 years teaching at Parrottsville Elementary School in Tennessee.

Originally from Knoxville, Tennessee, Jones and her family lived in Jefferson City, TN until they moved to Centralia in May of 2020. She earned both a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degree in Education. She also earned her Educational Specialist degree in Leadership and Administration.

Jones was first inspired to become a teacher in third grade by her home room teacher.

Jones said, “I knew I was going to be a teacher from about 3rd grade. It was the only thing that made sense to me. I had an amazing 3rd grade teacher and she is the one who inspired me to become a teacher.”

Jones enjoys being outdoors and taking day trips around Centralia with her family. She looks forward to raising her boys here and making new friends.  “I have really enjoyed my time here so far.  Last year was my first year teaching in Centralia and I have met so many wonderful people,” said Jones
