Griffin Joins Second Grade Team at CES

By: Griffin Anderson, Contributing Writer

Mrs. Melanie Griffin is one of the new second grade teachers at Chance Elementary School. Griffin was a paraprofessional at CES for three years, prior to returning as a teacher.

“I started as a para at Chance Elementary and loved every minute of my job and the staff I worked with. They are actually the reason I went to pursue my teaching certificate,” said Mrs. Griffin.

Griffin has enjoyed her experience of working with students at CES.

“My favorite part of being a teacher is when you get to see those ahha moments and the excitement on their faces when they get a new concept. There are so many reasons to love second grade. They are independent but still love school. They get excited about learning and they still laugh at my ‘not so funny’ jokes,” said Mrs. Griffin.

Griffin holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Forensic Science and later obtained early childhood/elementary teaching certification. She is married to Dustin Griffin, and they have three sons: Gabe, a CBMS 6th grader; Easton, a CIS 4th grader; and Cale, who is four years old. In their free time, they enjoy fishing, attending church, chasing chickens, and attending sporting events.
